Android OS, a beauty or a potential security risk
THE choice gadget business for this week is the Android phone. Android phone is a phone that runs on the operating system Google’s Android (OS). Basically, the Android operating system is the one designed by Google, and as such has the minimum requirements and specifications. These include, but are not limited to: a 1 GHz processor, 768 MB RAM, touch screen etc.
Common brands of mobile phones that are signed OS Android are: HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and LG recently. Fiji has seen the arrival of the Sony Xperia, HTC Wildfire, HD Desire, Desire HTC, Samsung Galaxy and others. Other marks may be seen in Vodafone, Foneology, Valuefone, Dickson International etc.
The beauty of the Android OS is its ease of use.
This is the main attraction is its integrated features, including: Gmail, Google Talk, Google Maps (with GPS and turn-by-turn navigation), Latitude, Google Navigation, YouTube. And with Google’s satellite footprints at the global level, each user can access Google Earth and navigation, whether on the streets of Barbarians in Nice, France or near the bridge Navua in Fiji!
Google also offers other needs of the user on-the-go, such as push email, MSN, Yahoo Mail etc., fast camera (minimum of five megapixels), Facebook (integrated), the weather – the phone tells this and the user updates it everywhere they go.
The market is constantly updated Android ensures that this is an application (APP) for just about everything from XE Currency Converter (popular website, now developed as a formal application) when making your pills !
The only drawbacks are the Android OS, and it is common to all the smartphones like the iPhone, Blackberry and WM is that the processor heavy (or is Qualcomm Snapdragon) must be recharged every day. Most users to optimize the use of the telephone in a delicate balance between display brightness, press the sync email, Facebook use and the use of GPS for the battery of their last until well into the night, so that the phone is charged while they sleep. The phones are smart enough to sense which applications the user does not use much, and automatically close (kill) the application to save battery power.
Recently, however, Android phones have been discussed as a potential security risk. A major reason is that applications on the market are not really followed or run as applications on the Apple Store. All applications on the Apple iTunes Store for the iPhone are checked and tested by Apple and must be approved by Apple before they are allowed on the iTunes store.
